Right?
I’ve got to be thousands deep in pedals over the years.

If I make careful estimate, might be 200-300€ down. With 600€ worth of pedals in use and 300€ on sale currently.

Exactly. I had around 22-25 stomps and I sold most of them (dist, ods, kooky ones, etc).

Started over with stomps that actually enhance or give a slight shade different tone for my amps (EQs, preamps, boosts, comps, etc).

It's definitely most important to me to find a tone, then tidy it up somewhat to complement my admittedly sloppy style.
Unfortunately good tone doesn't work like that. You are better off with no pedals and minimum distortion/compression/overdrive from your amp too. Work hard at tidying up your sloppy technique and tone by working on it. Sooner, rather than later you will sound better in every aspect. That is when you might start looking at adding gravy to your nice playing, touch and tone.
Work on that and the results will look after themselves.
Or much more crudely put: " You can't polish a turd."

If this new pedalboard will be used for home, then a clipon type tuner would be sufficient enough, like the planet waves ones.

Skip the compressor, get an OD first & a delay pedal, should be a good starting point for now.

The cheapest mfx units that can be used for trying effects that sound decent are few withoit sounding poor, i think zoom g3x or the digitech rp360x would be decent starting points.

Maybe give up the dream of “More - Zip - Stupid - Juice” and just read all the threads of what guys are finding truly useful to make the music you want to make. Leave it on your board for nostalgia, but don’t plug it in. Find a signal path and set of pedals that lets you do you in your music.

Sheesh!! If I had Almost 4 grand to spend, Id buy a Friedman BE Amp and not a pedal..

Some good advice in this thread.

Best advice is to avoid youtube demos. Often times, you may be digging the sound of the amp or something else the may be using and get the pedal and find it wasnt the tone you were hearing. OR, they often will use other pedals too.
Alot of pickup demos will do that. Add effects or post production to make things sound much different or better than the tone youll get.

(this may be a repeat of something already said or implied, but my .02)
Try to get an understanding of the tone you want and then look at pedals that deliver that tone.
A) In the beginning, I didnt really have any clue what pedals did what. I thought I "needed" a flanger, but what I needed was a Phaser. (or visa versa)
B) Or, I bought what I heard used on recordings and that artists I liked use and I cant get the same result cuz I dont have the chops or other parts of the set up.
C) I used to buy pedals based on such and such (buddies, famous players, salesmen) saying this is the best one for this type of tone or... Only to find they didnt work for me. Example being a Bad Horsie Wah. My buddy rules with his, but I like to be able to leave my wah in partial position sometimes. So, try to try first or investigate .

So, like many others have said, Ive sunk alot of money into pedals I dont even use.

AND... this obviously doesnt apply to you since you have been play 22+ years with only one pedal, but advice for any newer player.. Stay light on the pedals until you develop chops and then let pedals enhance that or help creativity.

In the beginning, I knew a couple of chords and covered it in a wash of effects. I could impress some non players, but I didnt develop any real playing skills. I finally got wise and kept the pedals off and concentrated on learning to play.
Im still very novice at best sadly, but at least Ive improved..

BINGO +1

This is why I suggested a cheaper multi-effect to investigate what pedals actually do and how they color your sound. Another suggestion I would like to suggest is the iStomp. It mimics some of the most famous pedals and only cost around $50. This will allow you to preview a huge variety of pedals without dropping tons of money. The nice thing is it does a nice job of reproducing the sounds and is something you can keep on your board as you build it out.

Yeah, this is pretty much the way I've decided to go.

All the other posts after your original suggestion were garbage ;)
