Pedals you'd like to see but nobody makes

For example, I'd like a variant on the Ross/script logo compressor. I find it to have a sweet spot on the sustain dial, and that varying the level hitting the front of the pedal controls the compression better. I also think the circuit sounds much better as designed, with a near zero attack time. So, my pedal would have three knobs:

  1. An input gain trim, labeled "Squash"
  2. A dry blend knob, labeled "Attack"
  3. An output trim, labeled "Level"

The attack and sustain would be dialed in to their respective sweet spots. Two more switches might be nice:

  1. A toggle that reduces the circuit's sensitivity to low and high frequencies so as to be a little more perceptually balanced when using bassy pickups - basically ye olde Fletcher-Munson curve.
  2. A toggle that adds back some sparkle to the typically dark sound of that circuit.

Anything you'd like to see, or feature you find glaringly obvious but no one has implemented?

The H&K Rotosphere is close, but I'd like to see a big pedal that does almost every sound a Hammond B3 will make, along with a perfect Leslie emulator.

Re: Pedals you'd like to see but nobody makes

Something that makes me sound like I know what I'm doing would be pretty nice.

Re: Pedals you'd like to see but nobody makes

I'd like to see a 1 band parametric eq pedal.
3 knobs: Q, Hz, & Gain. with a bypass (on/off) button.

Yeah, I've often thought about that myself. Might even build one someday.

As for the OP, with the compressor... have you seen the joe meek pedal compressor? Sounds kinda like what you want, an optical compressor with more controls.

I'd like to see Electro Harmonix actually make a Big Muff that doesn't need to be modded to sound great, and also include a Mids control for those of us that don't just play with ourselves in our bedrooms. The Tone wicker muff was a step in the right direction, but a tone bypass switch isn't really as useful as an actual Mids knob.
Also EH needs to stop making all these ****ty Nano pedals, and just go back to making the Huge good sounding pedals they used to make...And do faithful reissues of the "classic" series...A Version 2 Small stone, Small Clone, IC Big Muff, Memory Man, etc...

I'd also like to see someone make a real "sample and hold" pedal for guitars. Theres some pedals that can do effects that sound similar ("Step" settings on some flangers/phasers, the Seek wah, etc...) but none of them are actual sample and hold effects, just things that sound similar.

I'd really like to see Boss actually reissue some of they're older Pedals...I think Boss is the ONLY company that hasn't done a reissue of they're vintage gear. Its ridiculous...Its about time people should be able to buy a Reissued CE-1, CE-2, Big Chip DD-2/3, DM-2, Slow Gear, etc.... They should also do a line of pedals without the buffers, but "true bypass" ala Digitech's Hardwire series.

Re: Pedals you'd like to see but nobody makes

Yes! I've wanted a PEQ pedal as well. I've thought it would be cool to make it inductor-based with a dirty/resonant inductor, maybe even using ones meant for wahs. It would be cool if it could have some of the same character as a good wah pedal, only more subtle.

@J Moose: I have a ThreeQ and I don't personally like it as a guitar comp. It certainly doesn't sound like an MXR, which is what I would prefer. It also doesn't have parallel compression. I could probably get really close using a Barber Tone Pump with another pedal in front of it. The Wampler Ego Compressor looks very nice as well but the price is a bit daunting.

I'm still sitting on that 2-band parametric EQ design over here. Band 1 from 20Hz to 2khZ, band 2 from 2kHz to 20khZ. I know I could fit it in a pedal enclosure. And you can defeat a band to leave it a 1 band if you like.

Re: Pedals you'd like to see but nobody makes

I'd like to see Boss reissue the classic OD-1 Overdrive with the 14-pin chip. Though it may never happen, I may have to resort to going the DIY route, or modding a SD-1 to OD-1 specs (8-pin chip version).

Re: Pedals you'd like to see but nobody makes

I would love to see the TC Electronic Nova Modulator but midi controlled.

Re: Pedals you'd like to see but nobody makes

I want an OD Phase box, think a fuzz wah but Overdrive and Phase. Like a tube screamer with the phase built in ideally.

Re: Pedals you'd like to see but nobody makes

I'd like to see a Line6 ToneCore pedal with a credit card swiper built in, so I can add tones, models, effects, patches, upgrades, etc., on the fly. It would have G3 wireless built-in, so I can order up new sounds right at a gig… even in the middle of a song, if need be.

Re: Pedals you'd like to see but nobody makes

Another pedal I'd like to see is a natural sounding flanger with a blend and a manual, allowing for shimmery chorus sounds as well as dry swooshes. The circuit used on Heart's Barracuda would be perfect. I'd like a tap-tempo for setting the speed and/or a switch that restarts the sweep when you stomp on it.

It'd be awesomely cool to make a version that has two delay lines and a mode switch that juggles the LFO and manual setting for the second line so as to have normal, thru-zero, "golden ratio" and super-thick(slight LFO offset, slight manual offset so you have two voices) settings. All in stereo.

Re: Pedals you'd like to see but nobody makes

I'd like to see a pedal that doesn't have a ridiculous price tag on it!

Seriously, I'd like to see a pedal that does just the few most used basic fx: chorus, flange, reverb, tremolo, phaser and delay.
The t.c. G-sharp came close but it had a 19'' housing, thats of no use for most amp head users who want to have a simple live rig.

Re: Pedals you'd like to see but nobody makes

Instead of reissuing old pedals (circuits are widely available, and most have mods), I want more new effects. The EH Freeze pedal is one that is pretty innovative- so are their HOGs and POG pedals. Digitech did the Space Station in the 90s...all sorts of weird effects.
I like the EH nano pedals- you don't need an 8" square of cheap metal to house a big muff.
At one time the chorus was new. Lets see that sort of innovation now.

I Agree with everything you said...but at the same time...theres some great old effects that are lacking true modern versions...just cause the circuits are widely available online, doesn't mean everyone Likes to build FX or even knows how (I certainly don't try modding or building pedals, killing two pedals was enough for me thanks), and not everyone wants to pay $200 for a vintage pedal, or a clone built by some dick in his basement.

As for the EH Nano pedals...your right you shouldn't need an 8" square of cheap metal to make a big muff...yet apparently, EH does...Cause all they're nano versions of old pedals suck. The Little Big muff, sounds fine, but doesn't sound like a real Big muff to me...The Nano Small stone, Nothing like a small stone...etc....If they can make them small and make them sound good, then I'm down...but until they can do both...they need to stick to what they're good at...Making HUGE pedals that sound good.

Re: Pedals you'd like to see but nobody makes

I would like to see a pedal that combines the features of the Tube Screamer family of pedals together with socket mounted components. The idea would be a moders pedal that could be reconfigured in a number of different ways without soldering by substituting components.
