Pegasus and Sentient Set in PRS Custom 22?

Does anybody have recordings using these pickups playing some modern rock music? Everything on youtube is balls to the wall drop A music...

I am looking to replace my EMG 81/85 in my PRS Custom 22 copy (it is mahogany with maple top, rosewood fretboard). I just don't like the sterility and lifeless sound of the EMGs. I'm interested in playing heavier music with this guitar.. Lamb of God.. other metal, but also modern rock music. So I want high gain pickups that clean up well.

So how is the Pegasus and Sentient set for this? What about the Black Winter set? Not a lot of info on those out there. I already have a guitar with JB/Jazz and another one with Custom 5/APH-1 for other styles, so I want this guitar to have a dark, warm, shimmery tone to its cleans, and a raunchy distortion.

Any recommendations?

Sentient neck for sure! I'm running an Alt 8/ Sentient set in my old 1993 KOA Carvin DC 127 and am doing modern worship stuff.

Dark shimmering clean you say?

Both the Pegasus/Sentient set and the Black Winter set would be good for modern rock (and not just drop A metal). Pick the EQ of the set you like (or one that complements the EQ of your guitar) and go for it.

Tight higher gain tones?

I’m not sure this was the Lamb of God he was talking about ;)

I'd personally go with the BW if you want metal. The pegasus could do it but it's not a high output beast. I've heard the BW cleans are good, too.

Maybe also look into dimarzios? Illuminator, gravity storm?

This made me laugh out loud at work.

I ended up putting the Pegasus and Sentient combo in my PRS Cu22 copy. It has a beautiful unplugged sound with its mahogany body and neck with maple top and with these pickups it has a wicked awesome tone. While I originally thought this guitar would specifically play metal music well, it does everything well with these pickups.

I reviewed them on Amazon and I will copy some of my description from there... I'm addicted to the sound these pickups produce - a lively, vicious sound, well balanced harmonics. They have a dark sound (still beautiful warm tone, but dark qualities) that is unique to them. The medium output is one thing I was skeptical about - however, they have pack quite a punch and have plenty of power. They have an openness and airy-ness to them that is the opposite of the compressed, fizzy sound you can get with overly high gain pickups. I would recommend these if you are looking for a modern, unique sound that works well for all kinds of music.
