Pegasus....but in Basswood??

Is this thing going to be too bright or thin in basswood?

I am in love with what I'm hearing on decent recordings of it, but they all seem to be done on mahogany guitars or similar.

I've had a CrunchLab in my basswood 7string forever now.
And I bought a BKP Aftermath 7; and when the spell wore off, I took it out.
It simply did not work for this guitar.

Thoughts? Should I just buy one?
Where are people even buying these right now?

I've never heard anything souding harsh or thin in basswood. Basswood is a warm, light "airy" and tends to lack bass, presence, definition (muddy/dark) and treble. It has a good fat and warm midrange that lead players enjoy. I have owned 4 basswood guitars (Ibanez Jem, a Korean SG knockoff, the thing on my picture (ESP Japan) and a Ibanez RG550) and they all shared the same sound, although superstrats are brighter and thinner than the Gibson type guitar.

What you need, especially in a 7 string, is enhanced, tight and defined bass, a boost in treble and more clarity.

The pegasus seems to pretty much match this definition thanks to its alnico 5 magnet giving it a bright sound and tighter bass response (on the paper...).

I have not tried it, but based on my experience with basswood and alnico 5 it seems like it could work.
Another option could be the duncan Custom. Ceramic pickups tend to be harsh and cold but basswood balances it with a warm and round sound.
