PG's in a Flying V?

Guitar:
2006 Gibson Flying V with Ebony board.

Rig:
Marshall DSL2000, Crunch channel, gain at Noon, boosted with a MXR Classic Overdrive pedal into a 1960 cab.

Band:
Rhythm guitar for a Whitesnake tribute band.

Current pickups:
Custom / Jazz. (w/ 500k pots)

So i've been thinking about going for low gain pickups and letting the amp and pedal do more of the heavy lifting. It's not that I don't like the sound I'm getting, but I don't love it either. Something about the Custom wind is boring me. Also this guitar is very bright.

Do you guys think I'd be better off with a set of PG's or should I look more towards the 59's with maybe an ouA5?

I'm leaning towards a set of PG's but I would love some feedback from you guys on this.

Re: PG's in a Flying V?

For PAF's I'd go with a pair of '59's with an UOA5 in the bridge. With PG's, I'd definitely put an A3 in the neck. Remember PGB's are fairly bright PU's.

Neck will be awesome, might be a tad thin in the bridge. V's with ebony tend to be a bit bright. Makes for some nice snap in the neck, but the bridge needs a little more umph IMO.
