Phase switching - Dpdt vs. Spdt

Hi all!
i'm doing some mods on a guitar and got myself a bit confused.
it's a 2 humbuckers guitar(blues saraceno & pearly gates) with a typical toggle 3 way switch, 1 vol & 1 tone pots(both 500k push/pull for coil splitting the 'buckers).
i want to add a mini switch that'll enable me to go switch phase when both pickups are on.

looking at the wiring diagrams i noticed i am given the option of using another push/pull,an On/On Dpdt or an On/On Spdt for the phase switch.
http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=phase_switch_coil_split_hb
the schematic however only shows how to wire a double pole switch(push/pull or DPDT) while i purchased the SPDT.

perhaps anybody out here might be able to help me with that?

thanks!
Udi.

Re: Phase switching - Dpdt vs. Spdt

first of all, thank you Hermetico!
however, perhaps i'm missing something OR i didnt make myself clear.
to my understaing the previous schema showed 2 switchesq/pots and a wiring that enables both coil splitting(using the switch/pot on the left,AND phase switching using the switch/pot on the right hand side).
anyways, here's a different schema for just phase switching :

the only switch here is for the phase switching and it still says i could use a SPDT On/On.
am i getting it wrong? is the writing on the schema wrong?
or is it indeed possible to do phase switching with a SPDT ?
logic tells me it isnt doable.
