Phaser, tremolo, delay

Hello guys,
I'm searching for a phaser, a tremolo and a delay and i would like to get your advices.

All the pedals i want are second hand pedals. I found these, they are good, and i don't need the best pedals in the world, but the best in these selection, for my style.

I have the choice between:

- Tremolo: boss tr 2 and woodoo lab tremolo (4 knobs)

- Phaser: Boss ph3 and MXR 100

- delay: Boss DDR3, 7 & 8

The things you got to know is following.

For the phaser a like this for clean:

And for metal i like to block the resonance/pitch... Using it like a sort of filter....like zakk wylde does.

The tremolo has to be warm an full sounding.... For cleans and in riffs. It has to growl with distortion for a certain dramatic. I play drop C

The delay: i don't need reverse or tero echo or shimmer delays or such things, i only need a good delay that alows me to get very fast delays and longer delays... For solos at 80% of the time. I short : are DD7 or 8 to much when a DD3 makes the job ?

Thanks for your help

I had the Boss PH-3 and just couldn't gel with it. It has a lot of cool features/modes . . . really fun to play with the random phaser noise thing for spacey robot sounds, and the up/down sweep. But in the end it just didn't seem to do that deep classic lush analog phaser thing that I was looking for. (If you're into Incubus, this is probably the pedal for you though.) That said, I don't like lots of phasing stages. Any more than 4 and I find that the effect doesn't work for me. I think that for the tone you're mentioning sounds like a phase 90 (the phase 100 is a different animal and doesn't sound very similar in my opinion).

The Boss TR-2 works well, but it used to have a volume drop. Not sure if the current one still does. This might be an issue for you or not (and there used to be a mod that you could do to fix it), just be aware of it when you're checking the pedal out.

The DD-3 is a great pedal. Get an extra momentary footswitch for it so you can do tap tempo, and it should handle just about anything you throw at it.

Ok thanks.

The things about the tremolo (the missed volule knob) is the reason why i'm looking for the voodoo lab tremolo (it has a volume).
Have you try it?

What about the DD7? Is there a lot of difference between DD3 und 7?

I haven't tried the Voodoo Labs trem, sorry.

I haven't played the DD7 a ton, but the DD3 is a decent basic delay. I think the 7 had a modulation effect for faking an analog delay sound and can be used as a looper.

I love the PH-3, but it is more of a second phaser IMO. It's a good everything phaser to start, but you will eventually want something of the classic 2 or 4-stage analog type too. I mainly use mine for cleans/light-gain with all the cool stuff at the right on the dial. Step mode can do some super sick stuff and has some massive adjustment ability. Worth the price for that alone!

No volume loss with the newer TR-2. Mine is a 2019, but i think they fixed the problem around 2015-17 area.

DD-3 is a classic for sure, but if I was picking a good quality entry delay it would be the original full-size Flashback.

I tend to like 2 stage phasers the most, as more stages are more 'effety' and don't really sound like a classic electric piano phase that I like.

Those pedals will all work fine...but I'd suggest the following:

Phaser: Get an MXR Phase 95; Script+Block, 90+45. You'll love it.

Tremolo: Go with the Voodoo - you'll love it. (I have like 21 tremolos...)

Delay: Based on what you said, I say the DD3 is all you need, so get that.

And rock on...

Finaly i have buy the voodoo lab tremolo because of the more subbtle sound, more tube amp tremolo-like sound. (for what i've seen).

I've choose the Boss phaser PH3 for it's ability to get multipe sounds including a leslie type with the 10 stages. But more because of it's finest settings.
A long time ago a got a phase 90 and i don't liked it. It's a "right in your face phase" and not subbtle enough in terms of settings capability and it was doesn't my thing because of it's "single" sound.
I need a phaser with wich i have the cabability to block the sound in a more subbtle setting. With very little depth etc.... I think the ph3 will make a lot, even if a don't need to turn up the knobs so far for what i want....

In france we say:
"Qui peut le plus peut le moins",
What means "who can do more can do less"

Delay is more
difficult.
I've found a dd3 (not T) for 100$...it's expensive for an old second hand delay
A dd7 for 90-100$ and a dd8 (decond hand too, 2 longhs old) for 120$.....
