Phat Cat and Lace Sensor Dobro combo...

Maybe wacky, but here goes: Anybody know if the Lace Sensor Dobro pickup -a very low profile, stick on, strat lookin' thang- is single coil (no mention at their web site) ? Here's the deal... I want to know if it would be noise cancelling in conjunction with a Phat Cat neck pickup (reverse wound), ei, if the dobro pu was placed just South of the Cat and wired in parallel as an alternate switching choice. This way, for particular recording needs, I could get the silence and sound of a neck hummer without physically altering the guitbox...
Savvy...?

i just saw a guy a few weeks ago with one of those lace things on a national with a reso pup as well. it was a nice sound but he was using a nice preamp so im not sure how much of the tone was the pup.
lace sensors are low noise anyway so im not sure putting them in parallel will be humcancelling.

Yes, I don't know if the design lends itself to traditional hum cancelling in combinations. It tries to manage noise inside itself. There's no way to tell without doing it. If the noise increases or stays the same when combining the pickups, then your next step would be to pull and flip the P-90 magnets over. But that's going to be a major pain on the Phat Cat. It might be easier to find someone to trade you for a regular PC. Especially if they incorrectly ordered two standards.

I don't want to change the Phat Cats at all... I have 2 in the traditional config. I'm just thinking out loud how it might work to have the ability to noise cancel and create a pseudo hummer for the neck position PC if push came to shove for certain recording situations or venues. I also wonder if it couldn't be combined in parallel with the wiring outside the guitar jack, using some type of Y cord... I have one of the Lace Sensor Dobro Pickups on a dobro, but I hate to de-solder it as it is wired to an internal jack plate. But I may just have to do that if I want the answer. Hot-swappable pickups on all guitars with universal connects -now there's an expensive custom idea that should be more commonplace !
