SD Phat Cat question

If you use a traditional PU selector switch is the bridge pick still hum canceling when only it is selected?

If not how would you wire it so that it is? Could you use Pan/Balance pot instead of PU selector switch, so that both remain on to some degree?

no, there's no way to make only one single coil pickup by itself be hum canceling

you might be able to use a blender pot instead of a switch to dial enough of the other single coil pickup (RW/RP, of course) to get hum cancelling without substantially changing the tone of the dominant pickup

Your title says, "only 1 pup"...therefore, no hum cancelling with a single coil.

This could also be done with a dummy (magnet-less) coil. That would have even less impact on overall sound, but I still think there will likely be some noticeable effect besides lack of hum.

A blind coil still changes resistance, capacitance and impedance. How depends on how you hook it up but of course the effect is drastic.
