Re: phat cat neck and saturday night special bridge ? wlh bridge ??
For me, on the Gibson side of the fence, Phat Cats are too warm and rounded in the neck slot of mahogany for my tastes. Phat Cats have A2 magnets, which have full mids and not a lot of treble. Good news for you is that's not a downside in bright woods/guitars like yours.
I have a few guitars with a P-90 neck (in a couple cases a Phat Cat with brighter magnets), and an HB bridge. That's a great combination, as you get more clarity (and no mud) from having a single coil in the neck, and a fuller, warmer sound for the bridge. Definitely worth pursuing for you.
