Time Stood Still

Guitar: Maple neck through with Walnut wings and Ebony board.
At the moment I've got an X2N installed and it's nothing but ballsy mid range with no sweet spot to be found. I've got this pu in a Black Limba/Maple and it's sounds sweet.
I want something warm with a sweet lead tone but not muddy. I play metal/thrash where speed and precision is needed but I don't want to sacrifice a sweet lead tone, that's first and foremost for me. I'm a fan of the JB/Jazz combo but the JB can be hit or miss depending on the wood type.
My playing is aggressive and my attack can be hard at time. I may be better off with a medium output p/u to smooth this out. Comments?
Here are some pick ups I was looking at. Any additions/comments would be great.
Bridge:
*JB
*Custom 5
*Duncan Custom
--
*Air Zone
*Tone zone - good p/u but might be over the top for what I want at the moment.
*Norton
*Air Classic
I've got some time to kill today and I want to use this guitar for a gig on Saturday so I may be at the mercy of store stock. Hopefully it all works out.
Thanks!
