i have a fender fat strat and i was wondering what people recommend for the bridge pick up. the style of music i mainly play is more on the punk and rock side, but i want my guitar to be versatile. i have a JB in my les paul and it sounds great. but i dont want the same pickup for my strat. any suggestions?

JB would sound different in a strat. It'll be brighter, but tonally would still resemble a JB. I'd do a Duncan Custom in the strat or a PATB-3.

Re: pick up suggestions for my strat

Put a JB in my '62 Vintage RI Strat back in the early 80's. It nailed almost any 80's Metal tune we played back then.

It also seemed to nail the tone, regardless of which amp I used, of that red Strat that Brad Gillis had.

My strat has been back to stock pups for 10 years or so.

I've kept a Custom in my Bullet for 24 years and have been happy with the variety of tones. However, recently I snagged a PATB-3 to try in there when I get some time.

So alashredder has a good suggestion with the PATB-3!

I'm using a Crazy 8 in the bridge of my humbucker strat now. I've tried and liked the JB, Full Shred and the Custom 5. For 80's metal the pickup of choice, IMHO, would be the JB. For punk, I'm not sure.

I've heard heaps of negatives about the C-5 in strats what woods and how does it sound.

I'm going to give the PATB-3 a try in mine. I'm turning it into an HH strat with a PAF Pro in the neck.
