Pick up , Upgrade for Maton ms500

hey guys
I have a Maton MS500 which I want to upgrade the pickups in, as they are just to dull
I know there has been previous topics on this but I am after something higher end on the bridge with some bite and sounds nice distorted and a nice sounding softer clean pickup for the neck.
I am looking at seymoure duncans, but have limited knowledge with pickups.

I am hoping for something that can go straight in without having to modify the guitar at all, and hopefully will wire straight in
any help would be appreciated

Never heard of Maton guitars. But I also don't recall ever seeing a pickup mounted like those. Judging from the size of them, I imagine you could probably fit a P90 or a mini humbucker in the rout. For a mini hum you'd likely need a conventional mounting ring.

welcome to the forum!

ive only seen maton acoustics, never electrics, but thats cool looking and also has unique shaped pups. im guessing the rout would fit mini-humbuckers or firebird pups but they arent as rounded on the corners, or at least dont look to be, so youll need to figure out the pup rings and might need new screw holes

Ade, what wood and scale length?

In general, I tend to like Firebirds in the neck for stratlike tones and tend to like minis at the bridge when looking for a tighter humbucker tone or p90 when looking for more snarl.

On the other hand p90s can be very noisy and I have little experience with humfree p90s.

I've got a ms 500 and I've replaced the originals with a bridge 59. The internal rout is big enough for a full size humbucker if needed but you have to modify the pickguard.

In my case I made one from scratch to accommodate the new pickup on my router.

As for the previous question, it depends on the age of it. Mines a 2005 model and has a short scale (24.75 I think) and is made of Queensland Bunya which is a native Australian wood, although in 2010 they moved to 25.5 inch and Quandong.

Beautiful electric guitars, not to mention their acoustics.

You would need to route the pickguard for humbuckers. I believe the standard 500s are wider than a humbucker. I used the original as a template to make a new one. How old is the guitar? What's the scale
