I am going to get a Dean Cadillac. I want to replace the pups to get as best of a Billy Gibbons / ZZ Top tone. Which pick up combo does everyone think would work best. Thanks

The Pearly Gates pickups if this is a fullsized humbucker axe? Named after Billy's coveted Les Paul...

That'd sure be the obvious choice! Get the Pearly Gates set...Warren Haynes likes them too. Lew

pearly gates is a great call folks! also, try the 59's....

Yeah, the Pearly is the obvious choice in a full sized humbucker. I saw on the Rio Grande website that he is listed as using a Muy Grande for his ventures into Telecaster land.

Man I just want to get another SG with a set of PG's to jam just ZZ Top. Billys tone is huge.....

Your new Dean Cadillac (if its the Cadillac Select) should come with push/pull coil splitters in the tone pots.

The Pearly Gates is a sweet pickup. I have one in the bridge of my Dean Avalanche. I don't know how well they split though. I'm sure others here could tell you. Might be something to consider since the coil splitters surely do give you a lot of different tones to work with.

BTW, I love the Dean Cadillac Select. With Duncans or DiMarzio's I think the Cadillac is better than a LP at a fraction of the price.
