Pick-ups for Ibanez

Hi,

I recently bought an Ibanez RGD 6string with a basswood body and a 26,5" scale length
The reason I bought this guitar is when we're recording, I normally bring my Gibsons with me, but we're tuned in B standard and we're struggling with tuning issues and intonation issues...
So that Ibanez might help.
I don't like the PU's in the Ibanez, maybe it's the bodywood, I don't know. They're those really high output PU's with a blade like the Dimarzio X2N.
I really want to push the tone more into the Gibson ballpark, any suggestions?

What kind of pickups do you have in your Gibsons?

PATB-3 is supposed to Les Paul-ize the tone of superstrats.

Model number of the ibanez? Which gibsons do u usually use? im going to assume its an RDG421 and that u play lp standards for the moment. U could just get burstbuckers and keep it simple. U could get a custom and a pearly gates. Maybe a bkp miracle man or holy diver set? im not sure exactly what youre looking for...more details plz

I am also a borderliner between Les Paul and Strat. My believe is you never can make strat sound like a Les Paul, but you can come close. Some years ago i got a modded Japanese Squier with 2 hummers with rosewood fingerboard and it was stunning close. It used a PATB-3 and a PATB-1N.

Sorry for the lack of details.
I play in an Old school deathmetal (Entombed) mixed with some traditionale doom metal (Reverend Bizzare, Saint Vitus).
Gibsons: Flying V with SH6 and an SG with SH5.
amps: Orange Rocker30 and Marshall DSL100
The Ibanez is a RGD320 I bought for 150euros.
When rehearsing with the Ibanez I feel like there's a lack of mids in my tone, but boosting the mids on my amp makes the tone worse.

Re: Pick-ups for Ibanez

I have an SD SH6 in one and an SH5 in my Gibsons.

In that case id say avoid the burstbuckers cause youve already replaced the stock pickups and they are expensive as hell. Id take a good look at bkp's contemporary range. Personally ive only played juggernauts, and if those are any indicator, the rest of the range is damn good. As far as dimarzios go, i love the titan and the illuminator (both in the camp of a paf on super steroids). Duncans, u could just get what u already have if you want a similar sound. Nazgul is good too. Titans boost the **** out of the midrange, the nazgul less so. The nazgul is hotter and less clear than the titan, however. Also heard good things about black winters, but ive never played them.

26.5" scale tuned to B standard?

I'd look at the D Activator X, Super 3 and D Sonic; maybe the D Activator as well.

Dactivator maybe, but since hes missing mids, i said titan cause its kinda like a dactivator with more mids

Re: Pick-ups for Ibanez

The D Activator X and Super 3 have plenty of power to bring the lows out but with some emphasis on mids to improve their clarity, like the Titan, but hotter. The D-Sonic was absolutely designed with drop tuning (which is what the D stands for, IIRC), BTW; but perhaps B standard is a bit low.

Do you play B standard with your Titan?

Re: Pick-ups for Ibanez

My first thought that with the scale length and tuning is to go for the Black Winters. Hopefully the intonation issues get fixed with your other guitars.

Re: Pick-ups for Ibanez

Forget LP sound from 26,5" scale guitar in B. I'd suggest Dimebucker and Full Shred combo.
