Pick woes

Re: Pick woes

i wish i coudl help you i went throug my pick woes a few months ago but i ended up going back to my tortex orange picks. Im not really sure by what you mean when you say they tend to warp. In anycase i usually get a new pick ocne i find them are not quite as new anymore, a pick is what 25 cents or less so its not a big deal.

Re: Pick woes

Strat master, I don't like how the tortex picks have a memory to them when you bend them, I like being able to apply pressure to a pick and have it dig in to the strings without permanently bending. With tortex picks that would take not even half an hour, a waste of my IMO.

Re: Pick woes

hmm well another suggestion i think might be to sue the dunlop dylons but punch a hole into them or scrape the sides so they have mroe grip.

Re: Pick woes

I'm not using dunlop nylons at the moment since their tips are just flimsy, I'm using 1.3mm George Dennis sharp tips, it's like a little red jazz 3 all grown up with a grip surface which isn't worth as much as a twotless hooker.

Re: Pick woes

have you tried the black nylons? They are liek 1 mm i think im not sure but they are pretty thick and not really flimsy at all.

also if anybody feels this is a good idea and had some technical resourses at their disposal to work on this id gladly take a partner..pm me.

I think it'd be a pain, judging by how much I move picks around for different techniques, and how hard it would be to quickly grab another one if you dropped yours onstage, or something similar.

Re: Pick woes

did u try dunlop tortex jazz picks because theyre small it has less memory b4 i found out about them i was using regular tortex i was holding them close to the tip to compensate for the bending and warping and to make the pick act harder
and does anyone know if ultex are good for the metal picking technique

Re: Pick woes

its kinda a shot in the dark but id say give dunlop Big Stubbys a try, i use the regular stubbys 1.0mm ( they're about the same shap as a jazz but have a little dent for your thumb in them ) i've seen the big stubbys and they seem like they have a really nice tip for the ammount of surface area the pick has, and IIRC they go all the way up to 3.0 mm
