Picked up a 67 Pro Reverb...

I've been gassing so bad for Bruce's 5F4 kit that I finally decided to get an older Fender to pass the time. (alleviate some of the GAS actually)

Original trannies, not sure if it'll be blackface circuit or not. Trannies were all 66 models. Grill cloth has a large tear in it, but that can be fixed.

I'm assuming I'll be doing a cap job on it when it arrives and a blackface conversion if needed.

Then I'm going to start tweaking. Time will tell. ;)

Congrats, Scott...I have a 66 that I love.

:)

Scott...removing the vibrato from the circuit with a on/off pot and a negative feedback loop mod might be worth trying. The amp guru in Boston I took mine to suggested those to me, saying that they are the most worthwhile mods to do on the PR. I haven't done them yet, though (if I'm going to at all).

Re: Picked up a 67 Pro Reverb...

There's some good stuff in gerald webers books and videos on the entire blackfacing thing, as well as the mods you refer to. Thanks.

cool score, Scott

40 watts and 2x12, right? sounds just about perfect to me :)

'67's used to be the best deals in vintage Fenders

Man, wish I had the cash to score an amp like that. But I've got my Gibson (when I get the cash to get it out of the shop)

Nice find Scott...I have a 66 that I've had for many many years...What a great amp...As you know, the output transformers are pretty crappy(small and no headroom) in the Pro Reverb...Years ago I put a Hoffman Bassman output transformer in mine...A bit later the power transformer started getting really hot and making crackling noises so it got replaced with a MOJO...Mine has all n.o.s. Black Plate RCA stuff for the preamp and output tubes, and Weber C12N Ceramic 12s....I've turned my normal channel into a much better sounding channel with different tweaks on that channel including reverb...I absolutely love this amp...Better than my Deluxe Reverb amp but only because I Like the beef of the 2x12s over the 1x12...Best of luck with yours Scott... I've had mine for so many years and would never part with it..Start off with getting some good Sprague Atom filter caps and then go with either the Mallory 150s or the 715 Vishays for your other caps all about the board....Clean all tube sockets, switches, and pots as a start and see how she works...I know you already know this since you build your own amps, but what the heck buddy.. :smack:
