I tried a TC Electronics Vortex flanger out a few weeks ago and really liked it for a variety of subtle flanger sounds.
I´m sure they are usable the very odd time, but I´m not big into the crazy flanged sounds in general but I was able to get some really nice more chorus like flanged sounds out of it.
It can also make a good approximation of a phaser. Overall I´m impressed with the breadth of possible sounds it can produce.
I haven´t played with the toneprint yet as I haven´t had any need. I´ll leave that for the future. In the shop
