Picked Up A Reissue Vox Clyde McCoy

STRATDELUXER97

Stratoblaster Tone Meister
This reissue saves me from having to add true bypass and a power supply and is new for $100....I feel like I got a great deal on an otherwise $150 wah..I think it comes with a "fasel" inductor, but Curly was nice enough to order an extra Fulltone pot and inductor for me...Once I get those parts into this second wah,I'm going to try using all carbon comp resistors and nos Vox Clyde "Tropical Fish" caps and polystyrene caps JUST LIKE ON THE ORIGINAL Clydes...I want to compare the reissue modded Clyde I just bought with my already great sounding and highly tweaked out Vox 847....Should be alot of fun for me.. Check out the picture of an original 67 Vox Clyde circuit board which my own wahs are clones of...This was the Hendrix,Clapton,Page,Trower wah tones we all love...

Cool! I'm going to send you my wah wahs this morning John, but maybe we should wait to mod them until you've got all these tweaks finalized? Lew

No need to wait lew....Each wah will get it's own personalized tweaks until I feel like I've squeezed every bit of great tone I can from each wah...I think I've found a great formula that gives me the most vocal range on the wah and great quacky tones...My wah is right up there with Robin Trower and Jimi's wah tones...Lately I'm listening to alot of old Trower stuff(Both live and studio stuff)...I'm so happy with the way my wah turned out...I'm going to put together a second one,but it's going to have all stock component values and carbon comp resistors...My current 847 has pretty much all carbon film and metal film, but I've also tweaked cap and resistor values...I want to see how an exact copy of an original Clyde in terms of component values and component materials measures up to my original modded Vox? Both of my wahs also have the modern true bypass switch and a power supply,as the reissue McCoy already comes with these features and saves me from building the power supply and rewiring the DPDT switch...The reissue Clyde is a great wah to build any modding ideas on...It's already loaded with cool components..

Sounds good John, let us know how it turns out. I've been thinking about picking up one of these, so I'd be interested in hearing how the mods worked for you.

If its not too much trouble, could you please tell us how the Dunlop reissue Fasel's sound? I'm very curious about these, but I havn't been able to actually get my hands on a Fasel loaded wah to try first hand, or find someone who has one to tell me about it.

Do you want to know about the fasel before or after I tweak the hell out of this reissue Clyde? Or both? LOL

Curly ordered me both the fulltone pot and inductor...I really like the Fulltone wah parts...Basically I'm doing Curly's wah(s) in exchange for parts for my reissue Clyde I just won off e bay..

Either way works, so whatever would be most convenient for you would do the job ;)
