Pickguard Change for my Broadcaster

I thought I'd change out the phenolic guard on my Broadcaster (70th Ann.). I had a 1-ply cream guard I bought from WD for another project and it was sitting in the drawer (like a bazillion other parts). Thoughts? Be honest. You won't hurt my feelings if you think it's stupid or hideous. Only issue is the guard is 8-hole and I'm not drilling three extra holes.

i like em both, without a strong preference for one over the other. black is traditional for a broadcaster, but im used to seeing white guards on natural strats all the time

I thought the single-ply cream would be cool, since I have a Nocaster that's pretty yellow. It looks good with white or black; but I want one blackguard. The Broadcaster is in my avatar.

I like it

But tortoise would rock too

Maybe a leather

Or wood grain

Or gold plated brass like Goob has in the trading post

the extra holes dont bother me, but honestly little things like that dont usually bug me. i know some people feel differently

I took a band mate’s Road Worn Tele 50s Tele home for fret leveling. At home i found a spare white ( i think from japanese copy ) and put it over the blackguard just for s*** and giggles. It stuck there without screw. I laid it into the case and brought it to the next gig.
He was scared to death when he saw the whiteguard. I explained it was a classic look from the mid 50ies on. I had to put it off immediatly.:nono:

Between the two, I like the black. If I was going with a white type of color I would go with parchment. I also think that a brown tortoise guard would look good.

After all that, I replaced the black phenolic pickguard with the 1-ply cream guard. Kept it on for a couple of days and went back to stock. There is just something about a blonde blackguard that looks right to me. Plus, with the historical significance of this guitar model, I will just keep it all stock.

I think switching back was wise - to me, the black looks best.
White could work too. Cream, not so much. For me.
Maybe it's just that I'm not used to seeing a cream guard on a Tele.

It's hard to think of any pickguard that'd actually make that guitar look bad.
I agree, though: for a Broadcaster, vintage correct is best.
