Picking up radio stations... And odd background noise.

Well I'm picking up the local weather station on my amp... Funny that even through a ton of distortion everything comes in clear...

This was initially amusing but now it's pissing me off bad.

I assume the weird back ground noise when I'm soloing would be the radio station, it's like a wooshing kind of sound. This is only at high volumes.

Any help?

P.S. Don't tell me to turn the gain down because I only use enough to keep from hearing the metallic sound of the strings.

Suggestions:

1. Check your power cord connection

2. Rotate your cables - these inherently become antenna's (thus the reason for shielding) you may have a bad connection or solder joint

3. Try a power conditoner if you have one

Re: Picking up radio stations... And odd background noise.

I figured it out.

I had a long industrial extension cable going to the amp. So I found a plugin closer and ran the amp into that.

That took care of the radio noise.

As for the wooshing... I guess if you have the feedback (repeate) level higher than off on a delay it causes strange noises on single notes. So turning that down and running it to a different wall outlet helped.

Thanks for the advice.

Funny story,
When I was a wee lad, I used to host rehearsals at my parents house which was about 2 miles away from a Big Rig weigh station.
So on occasion when we were playing we would hear as clear day.
"Breaker 4 niner breaker 4 niner, we got us a big bad smokey bear report!!!"

I though I was being reincarnated inside a Burt Reynolds movie!!

I tried a bunch of things, shielding my guitars etc with no luck.
It turned out that in my case the problem it went away when I purchased some higher quality instrument cables.
Well there's my 2 cents.
