Pickup Advice - Your Input Appreciated

I have been using Duncan’s in my guitars for years. Recently I started playing again after a long hiatus and I am considering getting a few new guitars. Naturally I want to put some Duncan’s in them. These are the guitars I am considering, PRS Singlecut SE and a Fender Powerhouse Stratocaster.

I am curious what pickups people have tried in these guitars and what you have found to be a good set of PU’s to use in them. I was considering the following setup on the PRS SE, matched set of 59’s with a push/pull tone pot to allow single type sounds when in the pulled position. On the Strat I am considering the Calibrated California 50's set but I might be open to something a little hotter.

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

Re: Pickup Advice - Your Input Appreciated

I read your post in the other thread and you mentioned you used a 59, and loved it. A mathed set of 59 will rock ( I guess u play classic rock). or a 59n Custom Bridge. I wish I could help you with the strat too.. But I am in the same boat as you in that. :)

Oh Welcome to the forum.... I tell you it is addictive out here.

Thanks for the warm welcome! Yep classic rock type of music mostly. I really like those 59's but I have never tried one in a guitar like a PRS SE so I am looking for input from anyway experiementing with them!

Re: Pickup Advice - Your Input Appreciated

I guess I should give a bit more info.

I play through a Vox Valvetronix amp (mostly the settings close to a modern Marshall or the clean Blackface Fender for clean). The tone form the Strat I would like to get close to is the Eric Clapton Journeyman tone (Bad Love). Out of the PRS SE I would like to get a very warm tone with nice highs and a solid bottom without being mush. I would like to kind of have a mix between the old Van Halen Brown Sound, Cream, and Santana. I want a very warm and thick sound that isn't too harsh or brittle, the best way to describe it is that I want my solos to be creamy & smooth & my rhythum to be nice & thick with a little grit and and very full. When playing chords I want to be able to hear individual notes come through instead of a thick distorted mess. Hopefully that helps.

Thanks

Then I'd say go with a set of Custom 5 in the bridge and 59 in the neck for the PRS SE Singlecut.
Since you didn't gave so much detail on the Strat sound you want to have I have nothing to say on it :)
