Pickup advice

Hi

I currently have a guitar tuned to B with 27" scale. In the neck it has a Seymour Duncan Hotrails and in the bridge a Bareknuckle Holy Diver. Although this guitar obviously can belt out the "brootalz", I've always loved the beautiful clean acoustic sound of it. I want to replace the neck pickup with something that will be cleaner and clearer and give me a very nice "piano" sound on the fat low strings.

I'm obviously looking for something in a singlecoil casing and see that the Cool Rails, the Vintage Rails and the "Stack pickups" (Classic Stack, Custom Stack) fit the bill. I think I would prefer something that is closer to a real single coil than a humbucker, so I am not considering the Lil' 59 etc.

Advice on how these pickups differ and which one would give nice clean sounds is appreciated!

Re: Pickup advice

Why not use a SSL-1? (with hum)

Can also try to put the hotrails into parallel mode if you want to be close to the acoustic sound of the guitar.

Re: Pickup advice

The guitar doesn't have a lot of switching options, it only has one push/pull volume pot. Pulled - neck, pushed in - bridge.
I would prefer the sound without the single coil hum, as there wouldn't be any in-between positions like on a strat with 3 pickups to cancel the hum.
