Hello from Chi-Town:cool2:!! I'm new to this forum and I'm looking to get some advice.

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this guitar...
http://www.ibanez.com/ElectricGuitars/model-RG471AH
...and, of course, I'm looking to go to Uncle Seymour to make this guitar sing!!!

Genre: Hard Rock, Alternative (Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, etc)
Specs...H-S-H pickup arrangement
Neck Material: 3pc Maple
Neck Type: Wizard III
Body: Ash body
Frets: Jumbo frets
Fingerboard: Bound Rosewood
Bridge: Gibraltar Standard bridge

Any and all advice are welcome!!! Peace!!!

Re: Pickup Advice

For the bridge, there's only one answer: Seymour Duncan "JB" TB-4

Awesome in Ash, unbeatable for Hard Rock and Alternative, plus it's the very pickup Alice In Chains' guitar tone was built on!

I recommend a Distortion Neck (SH-6n) to compliment the JB bridge, but try the stock Ibanez Inifinty neck pickup before you change it out...might be great in that particular guitar!

Re: Pickup Advice

Like the way you do your homework. Most guys have no idea what the specs are on their guitars, or that they change the way it sounds.

Welcome aboard!

Some may question this advice, particularly the Distortion in the bridge.
I like it. Although it's a "Distortion" it cleans up rather well. The JB in the
bridge I support as well, I have one in an Alder strat and it friggin' rocks.
Of course there are many options, Cool rails would work nicely in the middle.
So many pick-ups to choose from. Others will chime in. Good luck and
welcome to the forum.

Peace,

Darrin

Re: Pickup Advice

Thank you all for the warm welcome!!! I appreciate the advice given thus far, however I do have another question.

Looking at the proposed setup, SH-6n - stock - SH-4b, If I substituted a SH-2n and either a SSL1 or SSL4 single-coil to go with the JB, would that go against the sound I'm trying to achieve or would that work if I tweaked the gain on my amp to compensate the difference between the Distortion neck and the Jazz neck.

I ask this because I usually buy my gear at American Musical Supply and they only sell the SH-6n as part of a set.
