Pickup angle vs 59n

So loving the 59' I put in the neck of my Charvel. I decided to order a Zebra one for the neck of my SG.
Now it just dawned on me...I have allways left the pickups(490r)on the batwing guard level to the body and Adjusted all my heights and poles.
Now Im thinking is the 59' gonna give me the same effect in the SG as it does in the Charvel( mahogany)??
I could put foam underneith the pups....BUT if I do, this will change the 490T that I love which is level to the guard and I dont want to change that.
IF I put foam under the neck only its gonna look Hokey

just put the 59 in the sg and see what ya think. i dont use foam unless needed. it should sound great without it

I use rings on my SG to level the pickups with the strings. I didn't drill any additional holes to mount them, just let the pickup height screws hold them in place.

I know the 490r in its sweet spot sounds smooth for leads but lacks serious lowend vs the 59 in the Charvel and sounds much softer and hazy which Im attributing to the A2.

On my purple Grote semi

They had the short neck ring, that was properly angled to level the pickup to the strings even though the body dipped down towards the neck.

They had the ring on backwards

When I turned it around, the pickup leveled out as it was supposed to

I have had some pickups tilt on their own in the rings

That was a case of the wire binding up underneath when mounting
Pushing the bottom of the pickup to one side

ive had pups in rings tilt too, you can usually find a way to mitigate that. ive also sanded the bottom of rings to get the right angle

Yeah, the tilting thing is because of the single adjustment screw on each side. It isn't a great system, but hey, it is traditional.

Looks Cool with rings.
Wonder how silver/ chrome/whatever you call it. Would look against a black batwing with blk bridge/ zebra neck? Whatcha guys think?

The [ IMG] version
A BB code version
And two more

I have had succes with i think the 1nd and third option

All the

[ IMG] versions don't work with the new format

Don't use the BB version on thw website
The other three just copy
And paste directly as text
not with image tool

With my phone I just post directly from the phone. The hosting sites are a bit different
