I recently obtained a used reissue Ampeg Dan Armstrong Plexiglass guitar..very cool axe, but also very untraditional and odd. And most-importantly it looks cool!! Unfortunately it only came with one pickup - the single coil (new they come with a double-coil as well.. the pickups just slide in and out). Replacement Dan Armstrong pups are difficult to find and/or expensive to have made.
In any case, I can get a decent tone out of it, but it's really weak, compared to my usual Gibson/Duncan humbuckers in wood guitars. The pickup also set far from the strings, with no way to adjust the height.
I'm thinking the Pickup Booster might be a good solution here.. to boost my signal up to my usual Gibson w/ humbucker output. Also the resonance switch sounds like it might be a way to beef it up a bit.
I know probably very few people have Dan Armstrongs, but do you think this pedal would be good for this application?
