pickup buzz...

my friend wired up two new pickups, dmz dsonic 7 and a paf7, in my RG1527, and all the connections are right. With gain on my amp, the bridge pickup (dsonic) has a hum or buzz that gets louder and softer depending on where i am in my room, but the neck pickup has no buzz at all. got any suggestions?

Re: pickup buzz...

Make sure the pickup is grounded properly, but it's probably more due to the D Sonic being a hotter pickup.

Re: pickup buzz...

everythings grounded yea...and i raised the paf really close to the strings and it didnt make any noise...could it be a bad pickup?

Re: pickup buzz...

i have a new ESP guitar its 2 pups a single coil and a humbucker 3 way switch and a volume and tone when i have high gain settings i can hear a buzz on the neck and middle positions, it over powers everything else, its constant and doesnt die ever, weather i touch the strings or not. when i selct the bridge it stops but if i tap the body of the guitar it faintly comes up. whats wrong?

Re: pickup buzz...

shield it.

line the whole control cavity and cover plate with adhesive shielding foil. also make sure the foil is grounded otherwise it's pointless.

Is that even with your hands on the strings?

Most guitars, if you apply a ton of gain, you'll get that sort of high level buzz (though not nearly that loud) if your hands aren't on the strings. To me though what you have going on sounds exactly like the sound you get if you touch the tip of a cord without touching the sleeve...I'd guess you've got the hot and ground reversed somewhere, possibly at the bridge ground (if that clip was recorded with your hands on the strings)...

Check everything. Hope this helps.
