pickup choice for a washy n2

Need to know what would be a good bridge pickup for an alder body, rosewood board washburn n2 guitar. What i'm looking at is a genuine Bill and Becky L500xl but have already waited so long for an email reply leave alone the time it will take to send it to me. I've always liked the JB but have never played it. looking for a pickup that would have tight bass and be expressive with nuno's touch to it since i cant get a L500xl. My style of playing involves a lot of lead work though with a lot of riffing. Also one big question i have is that i use a line 6 pod 2.0 and have noticed that it's too processed and a lot of guitars sound the same through it so would changing the pickup be of any use at all. Should i get rid of the pod and go in for say a damage control all tube pedal? Thanks in advance for your help :)

The JB does not have a tight bass. What do you play Rayz?

usually the lower the output the tigher the bass in my experience, as i'd also say the jb doesn't have very tight bass. the custom series(with the right magnet) has pretty tight bass, as do most of the PAF-output pickups. if your playing alot of lead and riffs, i'd suggest either a custom8, pearly gates8, or duncan custom. there are others, but i would say these because the bass isn't overwhelming, but is still very tight.

What about the dimebucker, since it is based off the 500XL?

Duncan Custom
Duncan Custom5
Duncan Distortion
Suhr Aldrich
Dimarzio X2N

All of 'em are tight and crunchy for your purposes.

About the POD, stick to it, it's an excellent box (for what it is).

the dimebuker sounds good so do the custom and custom5, but really will the JB be a good option? How about Jazz bridge?

Re: pickup choice for a washy n2

i'm not too sure about the jazz bridge, but the JB's bass isn't tight, if you don't mind that. with different magnets, it's a pretty cool pickup, though i don't care for it in stock trim. the mids are very funky, as a5 is generally a bit scooped, though the jb has a ton of mids. it's mids are balanced very oddly.

Bill 'n Becky have shipped my last two orders within 3 days of sending the money via paypal.
E-mail with them is much more hit and miss.....
They make great stuff however.
For a Duncan recomendation? Why not a PATB-3?

Rayz I love the Jb but I again tell you it does not have tight bass. It will rock however on that Alder body. A JB JAZZ in that guitar will be very versatilr. If u seriously want something tight choose something else.. If you coming to Mumbai anytime I would be glad to let you play my guitar so u can see what I mean. Or you can check Ronnieanand's PArker.

Ok i bit the bullet and ordered a JB! thanks for all the suggestions guys, i really appreciate it, i think i'll do without too much tight bass if there's atleast a moderate tightness in all the frequencies.
Super red ska, the funk in the pickup is what i'm really looking for as i think it will be a good match to the pod.
Maybe i should have called Becky for the pickup but something tells me the JB is the closest to the l500xl in many ways.
Jocelyn, i know ronnieanand and have checked out his parker and i liked it quite a lot.
But i guess if i dont like the JB then i'll wait for the real L500xl the next time for sure
