Pickup for a Carvin

I got a carvin guitar kit about 3 years ago and built (kinda) the thing right away. Looks great, and plays great, but I rarely play the guitar simply because I dont like the sound. Its a swamp ash body, and the pickup areas around routed out in three places and accept both humbuckers and single coils. I already have an excellent vintage les paul, and also have a great strat (thanks to the antiquities). I can pretty much get most of the sounds I need out of those two guitars which is why I have never really bothered to give this one a once over. However, I figure the time is right since I have a little cash floating around, so I figured I would do something productive with this thing. Any ideas as to what would sound really good?? I'm thinking of getting a bridge humbucker to get some sort of eddie van halen sound since I dont have anythign that does that really well. I'm open to suggestions. What do you all think?? Thanks.

Re: Pickup for a Carvin

I have a CC in my Carvin DC127T, and I love it. It does the whole EVH thing quite well thru a Marshall. Are you planning on keeping the neck and mid singles?

Re: Pickup for a Carvin

No, I want to swap them all out. I dont really like the sound of any of the pickups, I am guessing they are pretty cheap cause they came with the kit and it was priced at like 350 or so. I want to replace all of them, and I dotn really know what combinations to use yet.

I know the 59 is a good pickup to choose for the EVH tones. Can't tell ya about the single coils, because they arent my thing.

Re: Pickup for a Carvin

Why not try for something different and drop in a set of P-90s or lipstick tubes?

Ash Body?

Why not the Custom Custom in the bridge for the mids? I'm happy with the Alnico II Pro as a neck pickup. Very warm tone, and it might offset the Ash body.

P-90's also sound like an interesting way to go as well, or even the above with the new humbucker sized P-90 in the middle position.

Re: Pickup for a Carvin

If you already have 2 guitars for vintage and other stuff, drop some EMG's into the carvin... that way you can get extreme distortion and snappy neck cleans:)
