Pickup for Jackson JS30 KV?

Hey guys.

I got a new guitar, a jackson js30 KV, and i'm going to soon change the bridge pickup.

I play Groove/Thrash metal in a band, and i am currently using my epiphone les paul standard with a JB4 on the bridge, and i love it, it cuts in the mix so well and the sound is thick.

However, the Jackson isn't probably as warm and thick as a les paul and i don't know if it would have a similar effect as in the thickness of the sound.

The body is made from Cedro, neck from Maple, and the fretboard is Rosewood.

I've been digging into SD SH-6 or Dimarzio's as an option (sorry i do not know much of dimarzio).

Basicly i wan't a similar sound that i currently have on my les paul. What should i probably get?

Thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Cedro similar to mahogany?.... anyways, what is missing (tonewise) from your guitar? what don't you like about the sound?
For thrash metal, NO pickup can beat the DD. I have it in my mahogany Schecter and it just rips! tight, chunky, and aggressive. But that's in mahogany. I never tried it with any another wood combination.

First of all, I can't believe that you managed to get a good tone with the JB in a les paul. I HATE the JB in mahogany. Secondly, if you want to "thicken" up your guitar tone, you might wanna try the PATB-2 or the custom.

I've had a JB in my Les Paul and loved it.

I would suggest the OP try going with a JB again in the Jackson, but sticking a 250K pot in for the volume. Thats what I've done with my RR5 - you are never going to get as thick and fat a tone as you get with the Les Paul, but a 250K pot will get you closer.

The guitar is brighter than the les paul for sure. The Neck is maple, probably it's because of that. Also, Cedar is, from what i know in the classical guitar woods, a soft warm wood, mahogany is probably more middy.

TBH I didnt play my jackson for more than 5 mins, because the strings were very very old, the guitar was dirty as ****, and seriously needed a setup cuz the neck was bowing. Now when i get the money for new strings i'll try it better.

however, the other guitarrist in my band has a jackson from the same range, exactly the same wood and the same pickups, and trust me, the pickups suck major ass. They are extremly dark, with no power , and very muffled and focused on a "boring and not agressive" high mid.

So i know, for the band, that i (actually, we) need a new pickup, for sure lol.

DiM Norton for Thrash and Groove? hmmm?

This is not exactly a metal pickup but still has pretty of output, a bareknuckle VHII. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tObuVYJE_FA

If you ask me it sounds a lot like a JB4, considering its on a strat, then it should have less treble than a jb4 too.
