Pickup height adjustment screws

Just picked up a used Duncan Distortion from the local guitar shop. It did not come with the height adjustment screws and the ones in the Ibanez pickup is bigger than what would go in the DD.

Can I head to Lowes/HD and pick up the appropriate sized screws and if so, what thread/size will I need? Or is this something Ill have to order from SD?

1-1/4" long, 3-48 thread.

You probably won’t find size 3 screws in a hardware store, but you can get them at most guitar stores.

If the guitar shop does not have them, try online STewmac etc.

Or google your local Fastenal store. Trust me on this....

Stew Mac def has them, 1.12 for a set but like $10 for ahipping.

Maybe a Fastenal nearby too.

If this pickup has been used with bezels or pickguard, then they need the 3-48 screws. Some used pickups are drilled out to fit wood screws for mounting direct to body, in which case the threads might be too stripped or widened to use those. So look for any abnormal wear in the pickup screw holes before you order.

Definitely not drilled out, they came put of a PRS with rings, as I intend to mount them. The screws that are in the Ibanez are bigger than the holes in the DD. Looks like Sam Ash has them for $2 and some change and I have a Sam Ash local to me, so either today after I get out of work or at lunch Ill run over there and pick some up

Found the screws at Sam Ash yesterday, was gonna attempt to put the pickup in myself, but not that confide,t yet, so getting it installed over the weekend.

Next question for future use, what would be good team up with it in the next.

Thinking Black Winter, Sentient or giving a Full Shred a chance.

FS has peaked my interest as of the recent posts about it and sounded pretty good from the few clips Ive heard, but also like the Sentient and BW.

Any other thoughts or ideas?

All the pickups you mentioned are great neck pickups and would hold their own next to the Distortion bridge. That said, you might consider the proper Distortion Neck as well.

Is there a particular character or quality you want from the neck pickup?

Not really just something better than the muddy Ibby pickup thats already in the guitar. Ive looked at one or two samples of the Distortion neck pickup, Ill take another peak at them. I guess i could get one or two, whichever I dont care for in the guitar shelf for a future guitar experiment.

Got the Iceman back this afternoon and only got to spend about 30 mins with it, but that little but time, I can hear a huge improvement from the stock Ibby pickups. Will take some time to now tweak my amp eq, but thats part of the fun of a new pu or guitar.
