Wondering proper pickup height
Where this pickup is high output, should height be lower than normal

Thanks guys

Re: Pickup height help

That depends on you, mostly. A high output pickup is intended to be set at the same height as a standard-output pickup, where its higher output can push your amp. Lowering the pickup can result in it having the same level of output as the one it replaced.

However, with the massive caps on the Invader, lowering it might be required, especially if the strings crash onto the caps when you're fretting at the highest point. If they don't, I wouldn't mess with them.

Yeah that's what I was thinking ! Huge caps lol
I'm going to leave it for now I think
I just had her setup at long & mcquade
I'm sure they set it correctly

Re: Pickup height help

You'd be surprised, actually. Many people still do adjust high output pickups to match the output level of the originals, effectively negating the higher output.

However, you'd still get the new pickup's tonal curve, so it's not a total WTF.

Another point to consider is that higher output pickups (by their nature) have a greater string pull, which can make notes and chords seem to be out of intonation. This is mostly a problem with Major/Open chords, however, as well as runs along the lower frets. For 3-note Power Chords and upper-fret solos, it's not so much an issue.
High output pickups may also produce feedback sooner, so there's another point to consider.
