Pickup Help Please

Hi....first time poster.

Hoping you all can help me choose the right SD pickups for me.
I'm a relatively new player (~2 years) of a stock 1999 MIM standard strat, alder body, maple neck sss configuration. I use a bad monkey, rat2, and a bad horsie 2 wah (I just realized that sounds like a pretty odd collection of animals).

I'd like to replace the stock pups with some hum canceling ones. I posed a similar question on the DiMarzio website but I'm interested in some SDs as well. I like classic rock overall (think David Gilmour/Pink Floyd), Led Zeppelin, Who, etc.) but also want the option to play some Hendrix, Beatles, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Santana, Pearl Jam, etc. I play rhythm guitar in a band and we generally play songs within my musical preferences. We play weekly and do a live gig once every 4 months or so.

What combo of SD pickups would you recomend given my equipment, needs, and tastes?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: Pickup Help Please

welcome to the forum!

i would say the vintage hot stack plus in the neck for slightly thicker than vintage neck tones
a classic strat plus for the middle to get cool notch tones
and a custom stack plus for a juicier bridge tone. if you want a lot more horsepower in the bridge you could put a hot stack.

if you want more of a humbucker tone then a lil 59 or hot rails would work. the hot rails isnt as versitle but is a nice hot single coil sized pup

Re: Pickup Help Please

I second that.

Hot stack in neck.
Classic stack in middle.
Custom in bridge.

Re: Pickup Help Please

Excellent feedback. Exactly the type of opinions/advice I'm looking for. Thank you.

SD tech suggested STK-S4 in neck and middle and SL-59 1B in bridge. Thoughts on that setup?

I've seen several people getting a Gilmourish sound with an SSL 5 (bridge/neck).

I've been looking at Dimarzio too. DiMarzio tech recommended virtual vintage heavy blues 2 for neck, area 67 in mid, chopper in bridge. I understand this is a SD forum, but does anybody have any experience with this Dimarzio combo? Even a hybrid setup sounds like a cool idea....VVHB2 neck, area 67 mid, SSL-5 in bridge? That could be a winner.
