pickup installation problem

i just bought the sm2 mini humbucker and installed it myself and i think
there might be a problem.it sounds ok but it doesnt seem "hot" as it was
supposed to be,it actually seems the same as my old vintage mini humbucker
that was in my 70's firebird before. did i wire it wrong, i did the green
and the bare one as the ground and the black is the main hot wire,i did
the white and red as nothing and just taped it together.should the green
and bare one be the main hot wire?the tone seems kinda thin..

Did you strip and twist the white and red wire together before you taped it up? Does it sound thin with both pups or just one?

I was going to ask exactly what marvar did... although, if you didn't connect them, I'm not sure you'd get any sound at all??

You could have also over heated and burned out a pot, which we've all done whether we want to admit it or not. Is it a single pickup axe? If it has multiple pickups, does it have a single master volume or individual volumes for each pickup?
