Pickup mounting rings. Dumb question

I took out my stock Gibson 498T and put in an uncovered pickup but it seems a tiny bit too wobbly. Is there a different mounting ring or something I need to get it more secure? Or did I do something wrong? Thanks.

welcome to the forum!
chances are that the covered pup has longer legs so the spring is putting less pressure on them. id add another spring to the screw that goes between the pup leg and the mounting ring

A quick fix is use a piece of foam under the pup to stabalize it. SD pups have a piece in the box that works.
