Pickup recomendations for 335 style

Hi,
I just bought an older Ibanez AM-70 (mini-335 w/badass typr bridge) with the terrible Dimarzio/IBZ black pickups.
I want a BB King sort of tone on the neck pup, and I want to be able to get a defined, hi-fi snarl out of the bridge pickup like Angus young, and early Billy Gibbons.
In similar guitars I have used a Jazz neck, and a JB or pearly bridge pickup.
I thought the JAzz was great but thought the JB was too midrangy, and the PG was a touch too bright.
What are your recomendations?

I'd say a set of Seth Lovers or Antiquitys. Or a Jazz N and 59B. Or a set of 59's. Or, back to beginning: just get a set of Seths or Ants and be done with it. :smack: Lew

A set of '59 is a great place to start... for my '335 it was also a great set period... sound awesome...

A jazz N and 59 B was what I was intending to get. Have you tried splitting them? How do they sound?

See my earlier posts.

Another vote for Seths here. Great all-around vintage humbucker tone. Sound superb clean or distorted.

Seths for sure.
Go to the tips section there are some clips in there of Seths in a 335

The clips by Marin have sold me!
Are there seperate neck and bridge pups?

Hard to beat alnico 2 pickups like the Seth Lovers or Antiquitys in a semi acoustic guitar like the ES 335 or Hamer Monoco Super Pro! Not sure they can be beat...

Yes. The bridge model is wound slightly hotter.

Haven't tried the Seths, but the Antiquities in my Heritage 535 are there to stay :D
