Pickup recommendations for Jimmie Vaughan strat

I recently picked up a Jimmie Vaughan strat. Although I love the guitar, I feel like I'm just not getting along with the Tex-Mex pickups in it. So, I come to you guys for some recommendations.

For some reason, the SSL-5/SSL-1 combo has me intrigued. I'm not extremely familiar with the different types of single coil pickups, so I look for your expertise.

What would you suggest?

The SSL- 5,1,1 set is pretty solid. Nice authentic vintage strat tones with the hot bridge that balances volume and tone wise.

I think if I were to get it again I might go for the set with flat poles.

I put Duncan SSL1's and a Fralin Steel Pole 43 for the bridge pickup in my best friends Jimmie Vaughan.

In my own Strat, I went with Duncan Surfers and the Fralin Steel Pole 43.

Great tones, either way.

What do you like and not about the stock pickups? What are you looking for that you arent getting from the guitar now? That would help us make better recommendations to meet your personal taste.

Well, the neck and middle aren't bad. But the bridge just isn't giving me enough oomph. And a bit too trebley, even with the tone dialed back.

In that case, the SSL-5 bridge might be just the ticket. It has more oomf, less trebly, and more mid-range kick.

You might also like the STK-S6. it's the noiseless version of the sll5. Crank the gain and wail to your hearts content!

What do you guys think of the lace sensor pickups?

I have only tried the red lace sensors. They sounded dead to me. the Duncan stack are much more detailed. Quieter too.

Is the Duncan stack the noiseless version of the SSL5?

STK-S6b = Noiseless SSL5.

STK-S4n = Noiseless SSL1 Neck

STK-S4m = Noiseless SSL-1 reversed middle.

If you think your current neck and middle are OK, SSL1 and STK-S4 are in that same ballpark.with EQ and output.p, just more detaiLed with a side order of magic. Dust.
