Pickup Repair

The neck pickup in my '74 Telecaster has gone bad. I know Lindy Fralin does repair. Jason Lollar's website says that they are currently not doing pickup repairs. Besides, Fralin is there any other repair shops that I should consider?

Assuming you want it more or less the same as it was, do you know the specs on it?

Yes, I'd like it to be the same as it was. I do not know what the specs were.

According to "The Fender Telecaster" book the specs should be:

Wire Type: 43ga plain enamel or polysol wire

Turns: 7800

Resistance: 6.9k Ohms

Both will produce more than satisfying results and reasonable turnaround times, using the same materials and coil geometry as the original.

Thank you, to everyone for your suggestions! I've decided that since I since I work on modern cars all day long, that fixing a piece of 1950's technology should be fairly easy. I'm going to attempt it myself. If I fail, I'll send off to someone and have them fix my mess. :headbang:

Pickups have dark voodoo magic in them......at least the ones that sound good do. Beware of letting evil spirits loose.
