Pickup repair

i can wind coils but i dont have any more #44 wire which is what i assume they use for that. i have plenty of #43 so could make you a working coil, but it wont be the same as it was.

The working coil measures 9.4K. How close to that could it get with the #43 wire? I’d definitely be interested in hearing a hybrid Nazgul.

Full disclosure, I bought a modified Nazgul/Sentient set, mounted on slanted bases to fit a multiscale guitar. The Nazgul was damaged, so regardless of how hot the coil winds up, a working pickup is a win.

no idea how close i can get, but i can put as many turns as fit on there and you can see what it sounds like

Isn't there a formula for x number of turns of x gauge wire should be y resistance?

yes, or at least a good guesstimate. its a little different depending on the actual wire you have and i only have that for 6 string bobbins, not 8 string.

I forgot that with a wider bobbin it would throw off that formula slightly. You would basically need to measure how much wider the bobbin is and then deduct that percentage from the number of turns.
