Pickup selection for Les Paul - Nada Surf

Hey all, I'm looking for some pickups that'll get me close to the sounds of Matthew Caws from Nada Surf. The tones are nothing particularly unique or unusual, but I find them pleasant.

I know a Les Paul is a component. I've got an early 90's Studio with an ebony board.

I think he uses 59's. Im not sure if their SD's but some sort of p.a.f. would do the trick. Also consider adding a telecaster to your arsenal somewhere down the road.
