Pickup selector switch makes loud "pop" noise

Hi, I just finished replacing all the electronics in a LP, and everything works fine and sounds good, except doing any switching creates a loud popping noise. It's only noticeable when playing through a clean channel, and it only happens when the strings are vibrating. If I mute the strings with my hand and flip the switch there isn't any popping. Does anybody have any ideas what might cause this?

I can provide more info and my wiring scheme if that'll help.

My guess would be that it needs a re-solder job. I have a Hagstrom that kind of did the same thing and it had a terrible soldering job. How do the connections look?

I was going to say if it only does it when the strings are resonating, and only on a clean channel, then it's the strings picking up the vibration of the switch as it flips to or from a locked position.

Can you tap the body with the pick and hear it as clearly?

If it was purely electrical, then it would happen when the strings were not vibrating, and on any channel.

the fact that it doesn't happen when you mute the strings makes me believe that it's a grounding issue.. make sure that your pickup selector switch is grounded.. with a 3-way LP style switch I use 2 conductor (shielded) wire on all three connections (middle.. or both, top, and bottom) and solder the bare shielding of each wire to the ground tab of the pickup switch and solder to the respective pot at the other end.. this grounds the pickup selector switch and helps avoid rf interference as well
