Pickup Suggestion

I have been a Die Hard EMG 81 User Since I was 15 years old. as of recently I've really wanted to switch to something that is warmer & less compressed. I love the JB But was wondering if there is a similar pick up in the SD line that would be a warmer, slightly beefier version of the JB? I play really aggressive music, so I don't want to sacrifice chunk, crunch or lows.

Re: Pickup Suggestion

I'm still kinda new to the terminology of pickup tones, but have you checked out the Antiquity JB? There is also a different version of the JB in the custom shop called the Brobucker I believe (not sure if that's the right one) that might work too. If you don't mind spending a bit extra you could always get a custom shop model

Re: Pickup Suggestion

Switching the mag from A5 to A8 makes it slightly warmer and beefier.

Welcome to the forum!

I don't know if you will achieve what you want with really high output passives. I'd recommend the medium-ish Sentient/Pegasus combo. It is a good set if you are coming from playing actives, and it sounds amazing with all levels of gain.

Its the Eclaire. Less winding, less compression and an Alnico 2 mag.

With the Eclair, the neck is an under wound jazz, but the bridge is an overwound JB according to the description on the CS site. But yeah, that was what I was talking about. My input on this is Antiquity JB, Eclair, or Concept set, since they are all based off of the JB model.
