Hey all,
Been a while since I posted, sorry about that. Been quite busy.
I have 2 Seymour Duncan Pickups and got a Schaller Megaswitch M, which is basically a 24-pad Superswitch in a smaller format. I couldn't find a pre-existing design I liked so came up with my own hybrid:
Neck Series, Inner Coils, Both humbuckers, Bridge parallel, Bridge Series.
I think I figured out the wiring using the switch and did it last night. I had also previously flipped the Bridge magnet to make sure polarity would cancel hum for the inner coils.
It was a pain to do but I think it works well. However, Inner coils sounds like it has some hum, and it is a bit weaker than the other tones (albeit, it should be weaker). Doesn't sound really out of phase or anything, but it has a big volume drop, not quite as musical sounding as the same setting on my other guitar. That could be the pickups, could be the guitar design itself, but not sure.
Can someone double check my theory on this? Did I design it right, or is this combo of tones not possible?
Here is my diagram:
What confuses me is that I don't think it could be a phase thing, and I believe the magnet polarity is right, since the 2 humbuckers middle position sounds fine. It could also be the pickups, which are slightly mismatched (Duncan Blackbacks), or something.
Any tips would be helpful!
Thanks,
Dre
