Pickups annoying problem

Re: Pickups annoying problem

I think some little 59s just really need potting. Mine is highly microphonic.

From what I had seen of the old uncovered Little '59, and having ripped open one of the newer style enclosures, I agree that the wax potting is rather minimal compared to what I've found in DiMarzio's rails (which have epoxy everywhere IIRC), and typical covered humbuckers that are drown in wax. Underneath, my Little Pearly Gates just looked like a couple taped up single coils side by side. There is a lot of air in the newer enclosure, relatively speaking.

We don't know how much gain OP is using, and the fact that one pickup feeds back less doesn't mean that another is feeding back too much. we can't be sure there's really a problem to speak of.

Re: Pickups annoying problem

My GFS are very high output for strat pickups. Bridge pu is 8.6k. No squeek at all... I'll try potting before I go for another GFS set :) Thanks for the input everyone.

Re: Pickups annoying problem

You want to try wax potting a little '59? Opening the enclosure can destroy the pickup. I know someone suggested that but... dont.

Re: Pickups annoying problem

that is a single-coil size humbucker, so no enclosure here. Only squeek ;)

Re: Pickups annoying problem

Oh right the Tele little 59 doesn't have the enclosure. Next warning; don't try to remove the tape.
