Pickup's cable thickness

Hi!
What pickup's cables thickness SD uses now (four conductor)? 28AWG?
And what pickup's cables thickness SD used to first pups with 4 conductor?
I saw photos old JBJ and the cable looked thicker, but I can be wrong.

considering the pup is wound with #42 or smaller wire, the size of the hookup wire isnt that important

Yes. Even for the tiny wire that is used to wind pickups, the signal generated is far from the maximum voltage or current that such wire could handle.

Wire changes depend on the supplier. Pickup hookup wire is not designed nor made for pickups. It is a commonly made wire used for generic wiring in houses/security systems/irrigation controllers and the like. The minute changes are utterly inconsequential and any 4+shield cable will do.

28 ga is fairly common. If the old wire was thicker it was negligible and would have no reasonable audible difference, if any.

No, it's always been 28AWG; the difference is that at different times they used different suppliers.
