pickups for 68RI les paul custom

Hello Everyone,I am new to the site,I think its great.I currently have busrtbuckers in the guitar and I hate them.I play through a marshall.My influences are zakk,randy,eddie,and warren demartini.I know tone is subjective,but please help me the best you can.I am looking for a pickup set that would help me acheive these tones.I love zakks fat chugg,clear yet heavy.I don't want to go active,what are your suggestions?I did look at tone chart and i am torn between the custom,and distortion.Thanks for your help

welcome to the forum!!

how important are clean tones? if you want a killer high output setup try a distortion in the bridge with a jb in the neck, just keep the jb real low to balance the outputs.

Custom or Custom 5 with a 59N with nickel covers will put a smile on your face. Luckily, you could get good money for your stock pickups, so the the new ones won't cost you anything......especially if they're the tarnished nickel ones!

I would like to be able role back the volume knob and get cleaner tones.My marshall is a jcm800.I am a zakk freak.

59 neck and jb bridge or JB in the neck and distortion in the bridge for more hardcore sh!t

I got a Custom in my LP, and it is doing a good job IMO. But if you really want that Wylde sound without going with EMG, check out Bare Knuckle's "Miracle Man".
