Looking for some help / feedback on a set of pickups for a evh wolfgang that has a good brown sound. Something that is available or from the custom shop. Any help or ideas would be awsome

It has been discussed in the Dimarzio forum that 'probably' the pickup you need is a half-air tone zone and air norton set.

A early brown sound would be preferred. I know im not going to get an exact sound but close to the early years is what im going for. I talked to the duncan custom shop and the said tbey could make a set but they couldnt tell me what vintage sound it would be. Just looking for something close. I have a fender made evh wolfgang and a 50 watt head. Should i go with a custom shop set or get something you know would work

Re: pickups for a evh wolfgang

I'd go for a Dimarzio paf , it will fit right in the Wolfgang pickup cavity. The CC or Blues Trembucker would probably sound good if you don't mind modding the ears of the Duncan baseplate

very true! also the air zone sounds amazing in these guitars and would not require any modding or the AT-1 is another great pup for the wolf. for a neck dimarzio go liquifire or air norton or even a breed neck any of those will kill in a WG!:14:

Re: pickups for a evh wolfgang

Does Duncan have a baseplate that would drop right into a Wolfgang route like a DiMarzio? If so, probably no better option than the '78 for early brown sound. Of course, that was also in an Ash body back then or a Sen (Japanese Ash) Ibanez Destroyer for the most part...

If we're talking during the Kramer days, then think about the Custom Custom.
