hey guys

im thinking about buying a BC Rich Acrylic Warlock. i dunno the characteristics of acrylic as a body material, so ive got no idea what pickups to put in. I play hard rock/metal, but id like a versatile setup to play basically anything. any ideas?

I've had an acrylic mockingbird for about 3 years and i like it. Alot of people don't like the tone of it, but i think it suits and heavy music well. As El Dorado said they are quite heavy and mine is probably the heaviest guitar i've ever played.

yeah, it makes a les paul seem like a sack of air :laugh2:

a lot of reviews of the guitar say that its suited to metal, i think i could get more tone out of it with duncans though

Keep in mind one thing...it is goping to have a tone of upper mids...thins is not just a bad thing, just keep it in mind. I played a custom made acrylic Explorer with a maple neck for a while...it had a set of 59's in it,,,it sounded good just had more bite that a wood guitar.

Good luck

My suggestion, don't buy that guitar. If you have already bought it, sell it. For one, the weight is not even worth attempting to play. You could have a guitar made out of lead and it would weigh less than that guitar. Second off, the sound, no matter what, is horrible. There are just things that shouldn't ever be made and unfortunately that is one of them.

Re: pickups for an acrylic guitar

the weight isnt really an issue. i do play gigs, but at this stage i rarely have the stage for more than 20 minutes. you can get good sounds out an acrylic guitar, the dan armstrong was used by keith richards and joe perry, and my own personal guitar god, greg ginn. though the bc rich acrylic guitars arent the same as the armstrong, by hell im gonna give it a go

Has anyone ever tried the Dimebucker in an acrylic guitar? That's what i was thinking about putting in my mockingbird but i'm not sure how it would sound.
