pickups for epiphone les paul custom lefty

It looks like I'm probably going to get an epiphone les paul custom lefty. Most people are telling me I probably won't like the stock pickups that much. By doing my research on the SD site, I've pretty much narrowed down my choice of pickups as some combination of a JB, Invader, Custom, or Custom Cumsom. I play hard rock. Everything from meat and potatoes power chord stuff to atmospheric, long sustain stuff. I need something versatile... any recommendations?

my BIG question is -- what makes a good neck pickup as opposed to a bridge one? I'm reading some things that say "this is best in the bridge position..." What determines what's goood for what?

Hey man,
I am actully gonna pickup my new Duncan Distortion from the post office today that I baught for my new Epi Lespaul Custom. If you'd like, I can let you know how it ends up sounding in there. I know its not on your list of pickups, but I found the Duncan Distortion bridge to be excellent sounding for hardrock type of music. Lots of sustain and works very well with highgain tones.

you're gonna need some custom shop left handed pickups ...

seriously though, a 'good' pickup is in the ear of the be-hear-er ... it depends on the qualities of the guitar and whether the player wants to play up some aspect as a positive, or play down some shortcoming ... many guys like clarity in a neck pup for clean work and single note runs and warmth for overdrive sounds ...

they make the Jazz and JB (b) that should suit your purposes nicely
