Pickups For My Epiphone Casino

Hello everyone! It’s been almost a year since I got my Epiphone Casino. It’s one of the more recent issues of the Casino guitars and I’m wanting to replace the stock pickups on it. The tone from them are alright, albeit a bit on the muddy side compared to other guitars I tried with P90s. My biggest gripe with them is that they hum like crazy, even when I lower the volume and/or tone of either pickups. My Jazzmaster guitar is quieter than my Casino in high gain.

I’ve been looking up on the Silencer soapbar pickups and I’m wondering if anyone has tried them on their hollow bodied guitars.

I’ve heard it’s not a good idea to use hollow bodied guitars with distortion because it can cause massive feedback, however I used mine with my Orange Crush 20 in high gain and I had no feedback issues.

I've tried the Silencers on semi-hollow guitars, and they sound fantastic. I can't imagine they would sound any less on your Casino.

You can use a hollow body guitar with lots of distortion at lower volumes with no problems. High volume and high gain will make it a little more difficult to control, and it will tend to feedback quite a lot. It can be done, but you've got to be very careful about where you stand in reference to your amp and always be muting strings that you aren't playing.
